Global Air Quality Initiative
We promote education on the quality of air in various locations in various nations in partnership with two major partners: Sensor.community, based in Stuttgart, Germany, and MISE operated by Dr. Wansoo Im. Our primary tools are teaching how to monitor air with inexpensive devices. Currently, we are focused on the USA, Mexico, South Korea, Costa Rica, Kenya, Niger. To monitor air, Sensor.community uses a device based around the popular Arduino platforms and some of the more advanced modules.
We work to expand air monitoring in schools, colleges and households around the world. Sensor.community has established over 5000 air monitors across Europe and is establishing monitoring outside Europe. We are assisting Sensor.community to expand its network of monitoring- under the banner of ‘citizen science’ movement.
Project expansion is in partnership Diving With A Purpose (https://divingwithapurpose.org/ ). We have air monitors across USA , Virginia Islands, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Kenya. Currently, we are focussed on expanding out network in Mexico, Kenya and Oklahoma. Soon we work on establishing locations in Nigeria.
Mexico : CERCA (www.cerca.org.mx/) - Renewable Energy and Environmental Quality Centre is taking lead in Mexico to expand air monitoring . Recently, they conducted a workshop for teachers in Guadalajara and Mexico City.
Kenya : We work with two contacts in Kenya. We are the initial stages of expanding air monitoring in Egerton and Nairobi.
Contact us if you need assistance with either one of the devices that are described in detail on our "Projects" page or if you would like to learn more about the project. stan.ingman@unt.edu
